Major-General Lindsay Merritt Inglis, CB, CBE, DSO & Bar, MC, ED (16 May 1894 – 17 March 1966) was a New Zealand military leader, lawyer and magistrate. Born in Mosgiel, Inglis volunteered for service in the New Zealand Expeditionary Force during the First World War. He served on the Western Front and won the Military Cross for his actions during the Battle of Flers-Courcelette. He ended the war as a company commander and returned to New Zealand in 1919. In civilian life, he was a solicitor and barrister in Timaru but also served in the Territorial Force. He volunteered for service during the Second World War and commanded the 4th Infantry Brigade in the campaigns in Crete and North Africa.
