- Whina Cooper (9 de diciembre de 1895, - 26 de marzo de 1994, ), activista, maestra e historiadora neozelandesa. Fue su madre Hermina Te Wake y su padre Kare Pauro Kawatihi. Fue presidenta fundadora de la Liga de Bienestar de las Mujeres Maoríes de 1951 a 1957 y presidenta de Nueva Zelanda de los Derechos de la Tierra Maorí de 1975 a 1994. Era una respetada kuia, que trabajó durante muchos años por los derechos de su pueblo y en particular para mejorar la suerte de las mujeres maoríes. (es)

Fille de Heremia Te Wake de l'iwi (en), elle est née à Te Karaka, (en), dans le nord de la Nouvelle-Zélande. Jeune, elle s'intéresse au rôle joué par son père, ainsi qu'à l'histoire et à la généalogie. Elle travaille en tant qu'institutrice pendant un certain temps, mais une dispute sur les terres maori l'encourage à devenir plus politiquement active. Elle devient rapidement un membre important de la communauté maori du nord de Hokianga. Elle impressionne l'homme politique Apirana Ngata, qui l'invite à un hui national en 1932. She is remembered for leading the 1975 Māori land march from Te Hapua to Wellington, a distance of 1,100 km (680 mi), at the age of 79. (en)
- Dame Whina Cooper (ur. 9 grudnia 1895, zm. 26 marca 1994) – liderka nowozelandzkiej społeczności Maorysów. Była córką wodza plemienia Rarawa, Heremii Te Wake. Pracowała jako nauczycielka, była także farmerką oraz właścicielką sklepu. Przewodziła wielu ruchom na rzecz praw Maorysów. Założyła m.in. Ligę Dobrobytu Kobiet Maoryskich (1952) i była jej pierwszą przewodniczącą, kierowała rozwojem Centrum Społeczności Te Unga Waka w Auckland. W 1975 przewodziła wielkiemu marszowi Maorysów z krańców północnych kraju pod siedzibę Izby Reprezentantów. (pl)
