Elle fut le détonateur de l'art nouveau en Italie. Pour la première fois y participaient tous les pays où l'art nouveau s'était développé : Allemagne, Angleterre, Autriche, Belgique, Danemark, Écosse, États-Unis, France, Hongrie, Italie, Norvège, Pays-Bas et Suède. Le principal architecte, Raimondo D'Aronco, avait dessiné ses pavillons sur le modèle de ceux de Joseph Maria Olbrich à Darmstadt (Mathildenhöhe). (fr)

De nadruk lag heel duidelijk op modern; alleen originele producten in het kader van een esthetisch vernieuwde vormgeving werden toegelaten. | - Die Prima Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte Decorativa Moderna (deutsch „Erste Internationale Ausstellung für moderne dekorative Kunst“; englisch „First International Exposition of Modern Decorative Art“) war eine Weltausstellung für angewandte Kunst und fand vom 10. Mai bis 10. November 1902 in Turin, Italien statt. Die Weltkunstgewerbeausstellung wurde ausdrücklich modern ausgerichtet. Sie war wichtig für die weitere Verbreitung des Jugendstils in Italien (italienisch „Stile Floreale“, auch englisch „Stile Liberty“). Beteiligte Länder waren: Deutschland, Italien, Ungarn, Österreich, Schweiz, England, Belgien, die Niederlande, Japan und die USA. In der 150-jährigen Geschichte der Weltausstellungen zeichnet die Turiner aus, dass sie nicht der modernen reinen Funktionalität der Ausstellungsarchitektur folgt, sondern einem Kunststil, der Art Nouveau. Sie ist die einzige Weltausstellung, die ausschließlich einem Kunststil gewidmet ist, und markiert den Höhepunkt des Jugendstils. (de)
