Prentice Mulford (April 5, 1834 – c. May 30, 1891) was an American literary humorist and California author. In addition, he was pivotal in the development of the thought within the New Thought movement. Many of the principles that would become standard in the movement, including the Law of Attraction, were clearly laid out in his Your Forces and How to Use Them, released as a series of essays during 1886–1892.

Zajmował się również żeglarstwem, poszukiwaniem złota, dziennikarstwem, połowem wielorybów. Przez pewien czas wydawał własną gazetę. Dwa lata spędził w Anglii, po powrocie zamieszkał w zbudowanej przez siebie chacie i własnym sumptem wydawał eseje. Mniej znany, zaliczany do grona nowożytnych humanistów samouk. Zmarł z niewiadomych przyczyn podczas podróży łódką do miejsca urodzenia. Tinha uma coluna de humor num jornal popular na Califórnia e apos retornar de uma viagem da Europa, viveu como um eremita nos pântanos de Passaic. Neste período, continuou escrevendo humor para o jornal Lippincot's Monthly, porém, aderiu a movimentos liberais. Escreveu livros de literatura mentalista e que estimulam o desenvolvimento da mente.
