| - Pestilence (česky nákaza, epidemická choroba) je nizozemská death metalová kapela založená roku 1986 v Enschede. Zprvu hrála thrash metal, poté přešla na death a do své tvorby implementovala i pro žánr neobvyklé prvky, jazz fusion kupříkladu. Patří mezi první nizozemské death metalové skupiny vedle např. Gorefest, Sinister, Asphyx a Phlebotomized. Charakteristické logo dotváří i typický grafický znak kapely - kulová sféra, který je přítomen na předních obalech téměř všech studiových alb. (cs)

- Pestilence is a Dutch death metal band from Enschede, founded in 1986. There have been numerous lineup changes with the band over their 36-year career, with guitarist and vocalist Patrick Mameli as the only constant member. After disbanding in order to pursue other musical directions in 1994, Pestilence reunited in 2008, and was put on a "permanent hold" in July 2014. However, the band reunited once again in October 2016. To date, Pestilence has released nine studio albums, and they are often known as part of "progressive death metal's Big Four", along with Death, Atheist, and Cynic. (en)

Fazendo um som muito bem trabalhado e ao mesmo tempo muito agressivo, tendo influências de várias bandas de death metal e thrash (Kreator, Sodom), são considerados pioneiros do metal extremo. Seu álbum debut chama-se Malleus Maleficarum, seguido por Consuming Impulse que, lançado nos anos 80, é um clássico do Death/Thrash Metal tendo como destaque a faixa 'Trauma', muito popular entre os headbangers do Brasil na época.
