- Die Mthethwa-Konföderation war ein Stammesverband von über 30 Nguni-Stämmen. Sie entstand nach 1700 an der Delagoa-Bucht und dem Hinterland im heutigen Südafrika. Um 1800 regierte Dingiswayo in der Nähe des Flusses Tugela. Er schloss ein Bündnis mit den Tsonga im Norden und begann Handel mit den Portugiesen in Mosambik. - Os Mtétua (também grafado Mtetwa e Mthethwa) foram uma tribo de povos Nguni que, no século XVIII ocupavam o território sul-africano entre os rios e Tugela, na região conhecida como KwaZulu-Natal. Dingiswayo foi o seu chefe mais célebre, iniciou a união dos povos nguni, permitindo que os chefes de cada tribo continuassem no seu posto, mas com a obrigação de pagarem tributo em gado.
