He is an elected member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO], and German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and an alumnus of the Germany-based – Foundation for Basic Research in Medicine and the German Academic Scholarship Foundation Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (en)
