| - Eine Lebertransplantation (LTX) ist die Transplantation einer gesunden Leber eines Verstorbenen oder eines Teils einer Leber eines Gesunden in den Körper eines leberkranken Patienten. Bei Kindern sind meist Gallenwegsmissbildungen, bei Jugendlichen meist Stoffwechselerkrankungen und bei Erwachsenen eine endgradige Zirrhose der Grund für eine Transplantation. Im Jahr 2017 wurden in Deutschland 760 Lebertransplantationen nach postmortaler Organspende und 61 nach einer Lebendspende durchgeführt. 2017 wurden 1.213 Patienten neu zur Lebertransplantation angemeldet. - Een levertransplantatie bestaat uit het transplanteren van een gezonde lever (of een deel daarvan) van de ene persoon in het lichaam van een andere persoon (de patiënt) van wie de lever onvoldoende functioneert, zoals dat onder andere het geval kan zijn bij cirrose en leverfalen. De personen die donor zijn, waren in het begin overleden personen met een gezonde lever. In 2005 was circa 75% van de getransplanteerden na tien jaar nog in leven.
