- Ο Λεονάρντο Λορεντάν (16 Νοεμβρίου 1436 - 22 Ιουνίου 1521) μέλος της Οικογένειας Λορεντάν ήταν ο 75ος Δόγης της Βενετίας (1501 - 1521). Η ηγεμονία του ήταν η σημαντικότερη που πέρασε στη Δημοκρατία της Βενετίας. Μετά τις σπουδές του στη λογοτεχνία ο Λεονάρντο Λορεντάν ξεκίνησε την πολιτική του άνοδο σε ηλικία 19 ετών, διορίστηκε δικηγόρος σε ένα δικαστήριο που ασχολήθηκε με οικονομικά σκάνδαλα και πτωχεύσεις. Het toont de doge in zijn staatsgewaad, waartoe ook het kenmerkende hoofddeksel de 'corno' behoort. - Leonardo Loredan, auch Lunardo (* 16. November 1436 in Venedig; † 22. Während seiner fast ein halbes Jahrhundert umfassenden Laufbahn wirkte er vor allem innerhalb der Stadt in höchsten beratenden Funktionen. Nur kurzzeitig war er außerhalb tätig, nämlich als Podestà auf dem oberitalienischen Festland – dieses Amt führte er 1485 bis 1487 in Padua –, oder 1495 und 1497 an führender Stelle in diplomatischen Diensten. Fue un político hábil y sabio que logró proteger a Venecia en un periodo tumultuoso de su historia. Loredan falleció el 21 de julio de 1521, quince días antes de su muerte Antonio Grimani había sido elegido su sucesor. Fue sepultado en la basílica de San Juan y San Pablo en Venecia, a la derecha del altar mayor. (es)

Eleito em 2 de outubro de 1501, teve, durante o seu dogado, de aceitar uma onerosa paz com o Império turco (1503), e enfrentar a Liga de Cambrai, o que conduziu a longo prazo à guerra nos territórios venezianos em terra firme (1509 - 1517) com a intenção, falhada, de destruir a força da República de Veneza.
