A lathe (Old English lǽð, Latin lestus) formed an administrative country subdivision of the county of Kent, in England, from the Anglo-Saxon period until it fell out of use in the early twentieth century. Etymologically, the word lathe may derive from a Germanic root meaning "land" or "landed possession", possibly connected with the Greek word latron ("payment").

* Lathe of Wye Dabei galten und oft als Halb-Lathen. Im 13. Jahrhundert gab es in Kent fünf Lathen:
* die Lathe of Borough und Lathe of Eastry waren zu Lathe of Saint Augustine zusammengefasst worden,
* die Lathe of Lympne hieß nun Lathe of Shepway
* die Lathes of Sutton, Milton and Wye bildeten nun die Lathe of Scraye und die Lathe of Sutton-at-Hone
