Harry Albert Atwater, Jr. is an American physicist and materials scientist and is the Otis Booth Leadership Chair of the Division of Engineering and Applied Science at the California Institute of Technology. Currently he is the Howard Hughes Professor of Applied Physics and Materials Science and the Director for the Liquid Sunlight Alliance (LiSA), a Department of Energy Hub program for solar fuels. Januar 1960) ist ein US-amerikanischer Physiker. Atwater studierte am Massachusetts Institute of Technology mit dem Bachelor-Abschluss 1981, dem Master-Abschluss 1983 und der Promotion 1987. Als Post-Doktorand war er IBM Postdoctoral Fellow an der Harvard University. Seit 1988 forscht und lehrt er am Caltech.
