| - François Borne (* 1840 in Montpellier; † 1920 in Toulouse) war ein französischer Flötist und Komponist. Borne war Flötist am Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux und Professor für Flöte am Konservatorium von Toulouse. Gemeinsam mit dem Flötenbauer vervollkommnete er die Klappenmechanik der Böhm-Flöte (E-Mechanik). Er komponierte zahlreiche Werke für die Flöte, darunter die Fantaisie brillante sur L’Africaine de Meyerbeer, pour flûte avec accompagnement de piano ou d’Orchestre (1885). Seine berühmteste Komposition ist die Fantaisie brillante pour flûte et piano nach Motiven aus Bizets Oper Carmen. (de)

He is recognized for technical improvements to the flute. Furthermore, he is remembered today for his composition Fantasie Brillante on Themes from Bizet's Carmen which is a staple of the Romantic flute repertoire. (en)

Il était flûtiste à l'orchestre du Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, et professeur au Conservatoire de Musique de Toulouse (Haute école de musique à Toulouse). Il est reconnu pour des améliorations techniques à la flûte de Boehm, en collaboration avec le facteur de flûtes Djalma Julliot, appelé système Borne-Julliot, vers 1889-1890.
