- Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future ist eine britische Science-Fiction-Comicstripreihe von . Der Comic erschien erstmals im britischen Jungenmagazin Eagle am 14. April 1950. Die Serie erschien wöchentlich bis zur Einstellung des Eagle 1969. Die Comicstrips waren voll koloriert. Die Handlung dreht sich um Dan Dare, seinen loyalen Begleiter namens Digby und dem grünen Venusfiesling Mekon, dem Gegenspieler des Haupthelden. Die britische Band The Mekons nannte sich nach diesem. Das Album Rock of the Westies von Elton John enthält ein Lied über Dan Dare. (de)

Samen met Jeff Hawke is Dan Dare een van de bekendste sciencefiction striphelden van Groot-Brittannië. Frank Hampson en de dominee Marcus Morris waren de stichters van het stripblad . Ze bedachten ruimtepiloot Dan Dare voor het eerste nummer van Eagle in april 1950. Verschillende tekenaars tekenden in studioverband de strip Dan Dare, onder andere Harold Jones, Desmond Walduck, Frank Bellamy, en Donald Harley. Als scenaristen werkten Alan Strancks, Eric Eden en David Motton aan deze stripreeks. De strip werd stopgezet in 1967. (nl)
