Barbara Wootton, Baroness Wootton of Abinger, CH (14 April 1897 – 11 July 1988) was a British sociologist and criminologist. She was the first of four women to be appointed as a life peer, entitled to serve in the House of Lords, under the Life Peerages Act 1958, after the names of the holders of the first 14 life peerages to be created had been announced on 24 July. She was President of the British Sociological Association from 1959 to 1964.

Narodila se jako Barbara Adamová v Cambridgi. Po studiích na prestižní dívčí škole Perse School for Girls absolvovala v letech 1914–1919 ekonomii a klasická studia na cambridgeské Girton College. Její první manžel, John (Jack) Wootton, podlehl jen pár týdnů po svatbě následkům těžkých zranění z bojů v první světové válce. V roce 1934 se Barbara Woottonová provdala za George Wrighta, s nímž žila až do jeho smrti v roce 1964. (cs)
